Whitefish Bay

Whitefish is a delightful little town just south of Glacier National Park.  We stayed there 4 days while exploring the area. As you saw in my last post, Glacier is a place everyone should see for themselves as it is beyond description. Put it on your bucket list!

Near Whitefish is perhaps the most beautiful lake we have ever seen. Flathead lake is huge, and completely clear.  It is surrounded by mountains and is the most amazing color of blue.

A close runner up is Whitefish Lake which is also incredible!  We spent a relaxing few hours there writing and taking photos.  Guess who was doing what?

We also spent July 4th there,  ironically with a group of Canadians. In fact, we met quite a few while we were in Whitefish. They love this particular area and it is only about a 5 hour drive from Calgary. They were heading back for the big Calgary Stampede which sounds like quite the production. I picture it as one of our state fairs on steroids!

The fireworks were set off from the lake which I'm sure was spectacular. We avoided the crowds and watched from the hotel instead.

The little town is a busy place year round with cute shops and restaurants. Most of the places we have visited are ski resort areas in the winter.  We were lucky enough to be there for the Whitefish Art Fair which featured a lot of talented folks, many of whom created items we had never seen before.  It was a real treat in a fantastic setting!

Now, we are on the road again!
